AACD Committees- AACD has 7 active committees. Your voice is important to help make our community strong! We encourage new and existing members to become involved in a committee to network, build relationships and to bring your talents and strengths. If you are interested in more information or are ready to volunteer your time and energy, please call the AACD office at 402-694-6911. Annual Awards Banquet Committee- Heather Ballas & Betty VanLuchene-Chairwomen. Our primary function is the planning and execution of the Annual AACD Awards Banquet which highlights and celebrates the achievements of individuals, groups, and businesses in Hamilton County.
AACD meets during the fall at the Bremer Community Center to begin planning this event held in January.
AG-Agriculture Committee – Zach & Brandon Hunnicutt-Chairmen. The objective of the Ag committee is to promote, educate and support agricultural development as the base on which Hamilton County is established and on which it continues to thrive.
Goals include recruiting Ag-related and value added agricultural industries to locate in our Livestock Friendly County. The committee sponsors the Farm Family Pancake Feed in March-a goodwill gesture to celebrate our farm families, the Ag Legislative Forum in December-to provide updated legislative information to farmers in Hamilton County, Ag related tours open to Ag Producers and businesses and trophies for the 4-H and FFA youth at the Hamilton County Fair in three separate divisions. The Ag Committee also organizes Hamilton County Volunteer Day at Husker Harvest Days in September and has just taken on the Farm to School Day for the 4th grade class at Aurora 4-R schools. This event provides hands on experience to students visiting a working family farm.
The Ag Committee meets quarterly to plan events, organize sponsors and provide updates on Ag related issues that affect Hamilton County.
Publicity & Tourism Committee–The objective of the P & T is to work to create awareness and promote publicity and tourism in Hamilton County. The goals are to keep news media informed on the happenings within the Chamber of Commerce world and community and to promote community events that will attract people to our community and increase the quality of life aspect. P & T also maintains and improves the AACD website and FB to promote county attractions.
The P & T maintains a variety of marketing materials made available at the Bremer Community Center and throughout the community at several locations. This committee works with surrounding counties to develop marketing materials that showcase our events, restaurants, parks and social gathering points of interest.
P & T provides packets for newcomers in Hamilton County. They are available at the AACD office. AACD participates in the NETA Brochure Swap Nebraska state wide, sponsors and organizes the Farmer’s Market on the Square June-September, sponsors 4th of July Fireworks at Hamilton County Fairgrounds and organizes/promotes the Annual Garden Walk/Historical Tour of the downtown Square in Aurora in the month of July.
The P & T Committee meet quarterly to discuss marketing ideas and upcoming events at the Bremer Community Center.
Retail Trade Recruitment Committee-The objective of the Retail Committee is to act as the catalyst that strengthens the business sector-promoting and marketing the Hamilton County business community by representing all business entities to improve the business climate.
The goals include communicating with businesses to promote the small town service and unique shopping available in Hamilton County, advocate for unified store hours while advertising collectively. Retail Trade committee also works to recognize the needs of the business community to identify resources that can assist with improvement plans for small businesses, technical updates, expansion plans and succession plans. RT leads our search for guests for the Lunch and Learn Sessions which are held September-May monthly during the noon hour at the AACD office.
The Retail Committee provides workshops-one in the spring and one in the fall geared toward safety and awareness for the small business owner-these workshops are co-sponsored by the Aurora Police Department in an effort to familiarize the business community with local law enforcement. Retail also organizes committees to oversee AACD events and promotions within the county. Scare the Square, Holiday Tour of Homes, Ladies Night Out, Small Business Saturday and the Downtown Holiday Event are just a few of the sponsored events that this committee is actively working on.

Workforce Development Committee-The objective of the WFD committee is to help build Hamilton County’s workforce, bringing additional workers to the county. This committee will work to improve various resources in an effort to attract additional workforce to our area.
Goals of the WF committee are to organize/maintain a job bank for county wide businesses, to maintain current daycare listings and realtor and apartment/duplex/housing contacts. Organize/advertise ribbon cutting events for new and existing businesses to celebrate and promotes the Aurora Technology Center through advertising business offices available at the center.
The WF committee consists of former and present business owners and employees, Church, School and ED partners within Hamilton County. We are currently working on a new program called Opportunity Exchange-a joint venture between the schools and local businesses-to encourage students to complete an internship with the businesses to gain employment experience and become more knowledgeable about existing businesses within Hamilton County. Our vision is two fold: students will gain work experience and recognize local businesses within the county in hopes they will make contacts that can lead them to future employment in Hamilton County.
The WD committee partners with Seward, Fillmore and York county in the spring of each year to organize and promote a 4 county-wide job fair. This is a day long event for students and adults to visit and learn about business opportunities, attend break out panel discussions and network with employers within our county wide span.
The Workforce Development Committee meets monthly at the Aurora 4-R High School conference board room.
Education Committee-The objective of the Ed committee is to provide AACD support to our county wide education systems. The primary function is the Annual Teacher’s Luncheon which celebrates the return of teachers and administration to the new school year with a welcome back luncheon in August. Education committee also assists with organizing the Business and Industry Career Day for High School students in Hamilton County. This event is scheduled in the fall at the Aurora 4-R School. This committee will continue to work on educational issues within Hamilton County.
The Education Committee meets quarterly at the Bremer Community Center.
Sports Committee-The objective of the Sports Committee is to create awareness and promote sports and sports related activities within Hamilton County.
The goals are to hold an annual fundraising Golf Outing at Poco Creek in early summer to promote networking and enhance community relationships and to provide manpower for the Homecoming Parade and pep rally to assist with organizing the floats, connecting with PD to map the route and making the businesses on the Square aware of this event.
The Sports Committee meets quarterly at the Bremer Community Center.
The AACD also promotes and hosts the GO BIG GIVE for non profit businesses by organizing and sponsoring a lunch and learn with United Way and Grand Island Foundation representatives to provide training and education for non profits to become involved in GBG. AACD sponsors the NE State Chamber Legislative Forum in August, promotes and provides certificates to the Can-Care-A-Van food drive, organize, staff and promote the Annual Farmer’s Market and provides AACD sponsored name tags for various groups and organizations that visit Hamilton County.
